Trail Saddles

Manufacturer: Sycamore Creek Saddles
Model: CTK EN0010
Category: Trail Saddles

Purchase: I read about Sycamore Creek Saddles when I was on the Horse Tack Review website, which by the way is extremely helpful! I had been searching for a new saddle for my hard to fit Rocky Mountain mare. After reading different reviews about alot of different saddles the one that intrigued me the most for what I was looking for was the saddles from Sycamore Creek. Everything I was reading was very positive, not only the saddle quality and price but, also the customer service received from the sales rep, Tony Pritchett. After contacting Tony and many emails later we zeroed in on the saddle I chose and ordered it. It arrived about 5 weeks later. I tried it on my little mare and she didn't like it. After contacting Tony and sending him some pictures of it on her he decided it just didn't fit her right and told me I could send it back for a refund. I told him I liked the quality and would like to re-order a different model, so I sent it back and exchanged it for a different one. About 6 weeks later I had my 2nd new saddle. Tony made sure this had shorter bars to accomodate my short backed RM. The price on this model was $455.00

Likes: The price is great as is the quality of leather and how it's made. I love 1, how it fits my mare and 2, how it fits me! The first time I put it on her it was wonderful. She wanted to GO like she was loving it! There was no pinching at her shoulders as with my other saddle I had been using. She was gaiting very nicely and was very relaxed. I took her out on some trails and she was also very good and the comfort for me after about 1 1/2 hours of riding felt great! The model I chose was a lighter weight model with cordura fenders and skirt which I really like.

Dislikes: The only thing I didn't like about this saddle was the cordura girth. I ended up using a different girth that I had and it's working out great. This was not a problem with the girth that came with the saddle, just MY personal preference of girth choice for MY horse. I'm sure if I would have asked Tony to make the cinch in leather, that could have been done.

Quality: The construction and quality of this saddle is great. The leather feels very soft like it's already broken in. It's hard to believe that you can get this quality and feel in a saddle that is priced so reasonably.

Summary: As I said before, the quality of this saddle for the price I paid is great. My horse and I are loving it. The thing that sticks out most in my mind is the customer service I received from Tony. Through emails he worked with me on all of my thoughts, ideas, requests not only once, but twice! He took back the first saddle that wasn't quite right for my little mare and made us another one that ended up being perfect for us. He really cares about making sure everything works out for the best for his customers... the people and the horses. He went the EXTRA MILE to make sure everything was right and you don't find that very much in this day and age in customer service. If I ever need another saddle for my RM, gaited horse I would order another one from Tony and Sycamore Creek Saddles in a hoof beat!
