Purchase: I found Tony and Sycamore Creek on ebay and
purchased from his tremendous web site, after having had personal
contact through phone calls and email. I paid $550 for this
saddle, and no one who has seen it out here in cowboy country
can believe it. The shipping was very efficient and all arrived
in perfect condition. It is amazing to finally have a saddle
that fits my Rocky Mountain horse, and have it so affordable!
Likes: This saddle weighs 19 pounds...very easy for this
old lady to handle. It is beautiful and very well made; one
of a kind! It fits my horse well and is very comfortable for
me. An extremely wise purchase, especially for the money.
Dislikes: I had to order twice, as the first one was
made a little differently than I had ordered it. However, Tony
was 100% customer service-oriented, and offered to order a new
one immediately and trade. What a tremendous guy to work with!
So, even what I didn't like turned out to be what I liked. The
new stirrup style is great, except for the weight. They are
pretty heavy. However, I haven't yet broken my horse's ribs
when I put the saddle on.
Quality: To be honest, I was expecting the WalMart of
saddlery at this price. I don't know how CTK produces such a
fine quality saddle for such a low price. The leather is very
nicely conditioned and finished. All of the rings, dees, etc.,
are strong and beautifully finished. I ordered the felt lining,
which is thick and resilient. While this saddle may not be found
at Harrod's in the polo shop, it would stand proud aside saddles
many times its cost.
Summary: Don't hesitate to try one of these saddles.
The saddle, the price, the quality, the fit, appearance, customer
service and Tony all make Sycamore Creek Saddles a top choice.
